  • The mission and vision of Every Child Valued

The mission of Every Child Valued is to motivate the young residents of Lawrence Township to reach their highest potential as educated and fulfilled adults, to strengthen families, to combat racial, cultural, and socioeconomic isolation, and to build a sense of community.

ECV pursues this mission because it envisions the elimination of the historic pattern of achievement gaps among participating children in the Lawrence Township Public Schools.

To these ends, ECV operates sustainable programs—including after school programs, summer enrichment programs, and other educational programs—in cooperation with the Lawrence Township Public Schools (LTPS), Educational Testing Service, and other organizations. Such programs aim to establish and realize high expectations for participants’ academic performance. These participants include children and young people who live in Eggerts Crossing Village and the surrounding community. Through a multi-year grant through the Princeton Area Community Foundation's All Kids Thrive initiative which was started to combat chronic absenteeism in Mercer County, ECV was able to launch a Breakfast Program that currently provides 60 children residing in Eggerts Crossing Village each morning with a hearty meal each morning.  Consistent support and encouragement from highly engaged parents are critical components of ECV’s programs.

ECV aims to design its programs so that they reflect best practices documented in research literature. In order to continuously strengthen its programs’ effectiveness in terms of achieving ECV’s mission and realizing its strategic vision, ECV will use formal assessments of student attendance and student/family attitudes toward education and apply the results toward program improvements.

As we look to our future, we want to expand our programming for students in grades 7-12 and also include greater numbers of participants in grades K-6. As opportunities arise, ECV will assist members of other communities within Lawrence Township and beyond, helping them to adapt the ECV model to the needs of their children.
